Employer: South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust
Department: Croydon Directorate
Location: Jeanette Wallace House, Croydon
Salary: ?42,313 - ?48,515 pa Inc __________________________________________________
Croydon are looking to appoint a Community Team Leader to work in our Promoting Recovery East Team. The Promoting Recovery Pathway works with adults (18-65) that have enduring and severe mental illness. Working in a community mental health team you will line manage a multi-professional team of care coordinators, as well as providing professional supervision where relevant.
You will be expected to bring a strong social care perspective to the team. You will also have excellent assessment and care planning skills to enable you to support care coordinators in carrying out their role. As the successful candidate you will have the ability to promote social inclusion and recovery principles in the team's work with service users and carers. You will thrive in working with people from diverse backgrounds and be able to promote equality of access to service and outcomes
All Croydon Promoting Recovery services will aim to incorporate recovery principles in their work. This includes working together with people who use our services and carers to develop a shared understanding of each individual's strengths, difficulties and recovery goals. It involves developing a shared plan describing how the service user, PR service staff, and carers will work together to help the service user to get on with their life.
This plan might include work done by other agencies or services who offer support to local people (e.g. befriending services) and it will specify timescales for the work to be done and reviewed. The emphasis will be on empowering people who use our services, as far as possible, to get on with their lives away from mental health services. This is because we recognise the stigma associated with using mental health services and the better outcomes achieved by people who remain connected with their families, social networks and communities. Croydon PR services will also endeavour to be transparent about the limits of what we can offer.
You will hold a relevant professional qualification in social work, nursing, occupational therapy or other allied health profession and have demonstrable leadership qualities. If the successful applicant is eligible to be warranted as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) there is also an AMHP allowance of ?1589.76 per annum and a Compulsory Care User allowance of up to ?1,239 per annum in addition to the advertised salary. For further information or to arrange an informal visit, please contact Paul Richards, Head of Mental Health Social Care on 020 3228 0414 or Hammond Macaulay Clinical Services Lead on 020 3228 0396.
