BMS Immuno-Oncology Discovery is seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative immunologist to join a dynamic group conducting research aimed to advancing an innovative Oncology drug discovery pipeline. The successful candidate will conduct research aiming to identify and validate novel Oncology targets and will be expected to use a variety of molecular, cellular, genetic and pharmacological techniques. Substantial experience in studying immune cell biology in the context of disease, preferably in the tumor microenvironment is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication, capable of presenting scientific results to multidisciplinary teams, senior management and at external scientific meetings. This individual will demonstrate the ability to contribute to various projects outside of his/her own, and collaborate with stakeholders from all relevant functions. S/he will keep up-to-date in the literature related to his/her field, act as an expert resource in his/her scientific field and in related disciplines, and propose new therapeutic targets. Strong candidates are able to develop external partnerships/collaborations to advance internal programs as well as publish to advance our science and support our scientific reputation.
A PhD degree with more than 5 years of post-graduate research experience in immunology, tumor immunology, or a closely related field, is required. Drug discovery experience in an industrial setting is highly desired.
Proven track record of independent and innovative research as evidenced by publications in top tier peer-reviewed journals.
Expertise in isolation, characterization and functional assay development using primary immune cells of rodent and/or human origin is required.
Expert knowledge in the design, validation and execution of in vitro and ex vivo flow cytometry-based phenotypic and functional characterization of immune cell populations is required.
Clear understanding of immunological mechanisms and disease relevant model systems.
Highly effective communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, with ability to clearly articulate scientific hypotheses, results and conclusions to program teams and governance bodies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is essential.
