Summary

The Director will be part of the home office US medical team responsible for medical strategy, and execution of related activities, for Orencia. This role requires interfacing with internal partners across the US medical and commercial matrices, as well as with regional and early asset teams, and with US thought leaders and other external partners, such as advocacy groups. The Director will participate in several medical work streams including medical planning, ISR review, advisory boards and panels, and training of MSLs, but will also focus on working closely with thought leaders and other external partners. These interactions will occur via teleconference as well as via live face-to-face meetings, for which the Director would be expected to spend approximately 20% of their time in the field.

Qualifications: MD, rheumatologist preferred. The ideal candidate will have clinical expertise, and some relevant experience in the immunoscience area within the pharmaceutical industry, such as within Medical Affairs or Clinical Development.

Responsibilities

Leads the US Immunoscience Data generation team, responsible for data generation strategy and related publication strategy and oversees all data generation activities

Leads the Orencia translational research (TR&D) team.

Cooperates with cross-functional medical team members to deliver key medical activities related to Orencia and the evolving Immunoscience disease area, including advisory boards, congresses, proactive messaging, reactive medical communication, and publication strategy.

Effectively partners with U.S. Commercial organization on both strategy and execution related to Immunoscience and in light of evolving healthcare.

Engages with external Thought Leaders to gather insight into unmet medical needs, data gaps and educational gaps related to the burgeoning Immunoscience space

Anticipates needs of field medical team, including training and content

Partners with WWBT and CFIG to bring the US perspective to the development of lupus and pipeline strategies

Qualifications

Advanced degree (MD, PhD, Pharm D) with experience in immunoscience preferred

A minimum of 8 years of clinical, research or medical affairs experience

Familiar with all phases of drug development, including clinical development, regulatory and life cycle management

Critical thinking skills related to data generation and analysis required.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proven leadership in managing complex interactions and gaining alignment of stakeholders.
