Summary of Position Performs routine custodial and general maintenance of the facility. Normally works under supervision, after hours may be required to work independently. Essential Functions Cleans assigned areas including vacuuming and mopping of floors; cleans/shampoos carpets and furniture; picks up spills and uses extraction equipment, cleans windows, fixtures and art objects, removes and empties cartons, confidential and contaminated waste bins from designated areas; and resets waiting room and magazine areas. Restocks assigned areas and maintains utility supplies in utility/janitor closets. Restocks paper goods and soap regularly throughout the facility. Empties the trash. Monitors the bathrooms, keeping them clean and stocked. Sets up the conference rooms and delivers AV equipment and organizes food and beverage preparation for meetings. Responds to facility emergencies (codes) and notifies appropriate staff after hours of problems that require additional staff. During code red/gray/white, directs patients out of building as necessary. During code blue, provides assistance in body fluid cleanup and gathers any additional supplies needed to clean up body fluids. May do one or more of the following: open and/or closes facility; assist with inventory and utility functions; assist in snow removal and grounds keeping; assist in moving of furniture; assist in coverage of the parking lot; responds to service/assistance calls for access control; identifies the location of a tripped alarm on the alarm panel and alerts fire personnel of the location; prepares biohazard waste for transport and performs replacement of liquid nitrogen gases. May be required to work weekends and holidays. May pick up, sorts or deliver interoffice mail. Non-Essential Functions Performs other duties as needed. Any other duties performed which are not listed above are considered non-essential functions. Minimum Requirements Education: Knowledge of general cleaning required. One year of related experience preferred. Education beyond high school may count toward experience. Work requires frequent lifting, standing, carrying, moving and walking. Requires lifting a minimum of 30 pounds.
